Annual Photography Competition Each year our members can submit photographs taken within the rules of that years contest,  at the November meeting. The photos are judged by an independent party, with winners announced and winning photos on display at the December Annual Meeting & Potluck.  Here are the details for the 2026 competition 

Spring 2026 – Carleton Place & District

Race to Bloom – Earliest Spring Flowers Contest Our Climate Change Group is running a contest this Spring to capture photos of the earliest Spring flowers from any outdoor source including trees, ‘weeds’, shrubs, bulbs, perennials, etc   Here are the details.

Thursday, March 5, 2026 – Carleton Place

Carleton Place Sign-Up Night From 6:30-8pm our volunteers will be available to answer questions and share information about the benefits of membership in the Carleton Place and District Horticultural Society.  The event is hosted by the Town and is held at the Carleton Place Arena

Saturday, March 14, 2026 – Almonte

Lanark County Seedy Saturday “Your abundant Garden 10am to 3pm our volunteers will be available to answer questions and share information about sustainable gardening and the Carleton Place and District Horticultural Society.  At this popular annual event you will find seed exchanges, workshops & lectures, local horticultural vendors, and expert advice on gardening from societies and garden clubs.  Civitan Club Almonte, 500 Almonte St, Almonte, ON

Saturday, May 2, 2026 – Carleton Place

Young Gardeners’ Workshop – Rona  The workshop will begin at 2pm at the Carleton Place Rona. This workshop will be designed and delivered by Carleton Place & District Horticultural Society volunteers and hosted by Rona.  More information to follow…

Saturday, May 23, 2026 – Carleton Place

Spring Plant Sale  Join us in Victoria School Garden at the Carleton Place and Beckwith Museum for the biggest plant sale of the year! Hundreds of healthy perennial plants, also  vegetables, native plants, house plants and all things horticultural.  Our biggest fundraiser with proceeds put toward the good works of the society in our community. Runs from 8:30-11:30 am. Address is 267 Edmund St. Carleton Place.

Saturday June 13, 2026 – Kanata

OHA District 2 Flower & Edibles Show  District 2 of the Ontario Horticultural Association is hosting largest flower show in Eastern Ontario in nearby Kanata.  A wonderful opportunity to check out the beautiful arrangements, displays and individual exhibits that D2 society members prepare for this popular annual public event. Details: 1-4pm at Richcraft Recreation Centre, 4101 Innovation Drive, Kanata

Saturday June 20, 2026 – Carleton Place

Summer Flower Show & Strawberry Social  The Carleton Place and District Horticultural Society welcomes the public to our Summer Flower Show.  A wonderful opportunity to check out the beautiful arrangements, displays and individual exhibits that our members prepare for this popular annual event. Lanark County Seedy Saturday From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Almonte Civitan Club, 500 Almonte St. Almonte. CPDHS volunteers will be happy to answer questions and accept  memberships at our exhibit table Event features free seed swap table, seed libraries, seed vendors, seedling and fruit tree vendors, workshops and educational speakers. All proceeds will go to Lanark County Interval House.

Workshop – Creating a Design for a Flower Show
Speaker Linda Bartlett will demonstrate how to create two more designs from the upcoming May Flower Show Schedule. Participants will be invited to create their own Decorative Parallel design. District 2 Annual Meeting hosted by the Pakenham Horticultural Society. The theme is Sustainable Gardening. The Annual Meeting will be an in-person event this year to be held from 9:00 am-4:00 pm at the Stewart Community Centre, 112 MacFarlane Street, Pakenham, ON. Keynote Speakers include Nadine Snowling, volunteer Ottawa speaking on Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers as Part of a Community Development Initiative. and Alberto Saurez-Esteban of Nature’s Apprentice Farm speaking on Modern Sustainable Gardening Practices

Summer Flower Show  Mark your calendar.  This will be our biggest Flower Show and horticultural information event this year. The Carleton Place and District Horticultural Society invites you to our Summer Flower Show. There will be flowers from Members’ gardens and designs created by the Members all of which will be judged.  Booths highlighting some of the Society’s activities will set-up for all ages.  Please, come to see the beautiful flowers and arrangements and enjoy some delicious ice cream on us. Where Zion Memorial Church Hall, 37 Franklin Street. What time: 1pm to 4pm
